Airbyte is the open-source standard for EL(T). We enable data teams to replicate data from applications, APIs, and databases to data warehouses, lakes, and other destinations. We believe only an open-source approach can solve the problem of data integration, as it enables us to cover the long tail of integrations while enabling teams to adapt pre-built connectors to their needs.
So far, we've built over 350 connectors and have had 35,000+ companies replicating data with us. We've raised $181M from some of the world's top investors (Benchmark, Accel, Altimeter, Coatue, Y Combinator, etc.) and believe in product-led growth, where we build something awesome and let our product bring the users, rather than an outbound sales engine with cold calls.
If you find this role exciting, we encourage you to apply even if you think you don't meet all requirements.
As an Engineer on the Database Sources team, you will push forward Airbyte's mission-critical connectors that extract customer data from databases and data warehouses. Building these connectors will require you to go deep into each database and understand its approach to optimized queries, write-ahead logging and information schema management. You will use that learning to efficiently pull data from these databases as well as build Change Data Capture (CDC). You will build the framework for extracting data from these systems. The ultimate goal is to make Airbyte's database sources the undisputed industry leaders.
You will be responsible for defining the framework for how Airbyte interacts with and extracts data from all databases and data warehouses. You will ensure that we can support all data (different types, size, encodings, etc) in ways that empower our users. You will also make sure we leverage database-specific features to make Airbyte best-in-class for each source that we support. Finally, you will help to build the tools to empower our community to create and extend databases on their own.
We have positions open at multiple levels for this role. The “What You'll Need” section describes the minimum level that we have open. We have positions that will challenge a seasoned engineer at any level.
