Moment builds modern capital markets infrastructure for the wealth management space, starting with fixed income. Founded in 2022 by former fixed income quants at leading prop shops, Moment has quickly established itself as the leading fixed income infrastructure provider for global fintechs, traditional brokerages, and RIAs. In the past three years, electronic fixed income trading volume has nearly doubled and in the past 14 months, retail fixed income trading volume has increased by more than 1500%. Despite this rapid growth, the wealth management space has been confined to legacy technology that doesnt meet their needs anymore. Thats where Moment comes in in just a matter of weeks, Moment allows customers to easily offer an end-to-end, modern fixed income solution through a simple set of APIs across data, execution, and portfolio management. Most startups start off serving small businesses, and scale up as they convince larger enterprises to take a bet. Moments version of small businesses have been firms representing millions of retail investors and were just getting started. We're growing incredibly fast and are backed by world-class investors. In May 2023, we raised a $17M Series A led by a16z with participation from amazing investors including Venrock, Neo, Contrary, and Henry Kravis.
The Role
We are looking for talented software engineers to join our team as early members. You will work alongside some of the brightest people in the industry to develop the next generation of well-architected, robust, and scalable systems. A fintech background is preferred but not required. We value a passion for revolutionizing how retail investors access capital markets. While an interest in finance is appreciated, we will provide comprehensive domain knowledge training during onboarding. Together, we aim to redefine and transform the finance industry.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core Trading services that drive Moment's product offerings.
- Lead the scope definition, design, implementation, and deployment of robust distributed services, striking the appropriate balance between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity, and cost.
- Actively participate in design and architecture reviews for new features, products, or infrastructure components.
- Produce comprehensive documentation throughout all project lifecycle phases.
- Contribute to the evolution of our tech stack as we scale our product.
- Assist in building a world-class team by participating in hiring and mentoring new team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4+ years of experience in backend engineering.
- Proven ability to architect or build 0-1 services in a large-scale production environment.
- Hands-on experience in building distributed systems in a cloud environment using AWS.
- Proficiency in event-driven systems leveraging Kafka or similar messaging frameworks.
- Familiarity with Go or C++/Java programming languages.
- Working knowledge of Postgres database management system.
- Experience with Trading systems or any financial-related systems is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
For this role, the salary range is $130,000-$170,000. Actual compensation will vary based on skills and experience. In addition to a competitive salary and equity package, we provide every employee with:
