Job Description:

The Media Services team at Major League Baseball is looking for engineers to join our New York, NY office. You will be part of the team responsible for engineering the next generation of platforms to enhance fan experiences and engagement on streaming media products. This includes building and supporting our flagship customer facing products like MLB.tv and Film Room as well as a suite of in-house tools to support club media operations. As a Software Engineer, you will write and maintain clean, concise, modular code in a fast paced agile environment and participate in code reviews and team ceremonies. This role will be involved in end-to-end software solutions to create media experiences for baseball fans and to improve baseball operations. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience - Experience delivering backend software and services using JVM languages (Python, Javascript and/or front end experience is a plus). - Experience with Google Cloud/AWS and cloud-native tooling such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Helm - Proficiency in professional software development process (agile development) and tools (IDEs, source control, CI/CD pipeline, test frameworks) - Experience working alongside senior engineers to produce and support large-scale production systems - Exposure to event driven architectures, distributed systems, and client facing APIs is a plus ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Actively participate in team ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, design/code reviews, postmortems) - Collaborate with senior engineers to design and decompose software systems; produce specifications for sub-systems, modules and APIs - Produce efficient, high-quality and testable implementations - Take ownership of the products supported by the team Why MLB? As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
