OverviewUsing current application programming and relational database management system toolsets, IBM i, RPG and DB2, performs a variety of advanced complex technical functions involving application development, production and test systems support of Allied's business systems. Analyzes, designs, programs, tests, implements, documents and maintains assigned systems. Develops and maintains procedures and application solutions for multiple functional areas on multiple databases and systems while providing project and technology leadership in implementing solutions. Works with the Business community and their Management as well as other IT functions to resolve application and data(base) problems and other business and operational issues.Responsibilities
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex functional and technical errors including communication, database, software (internally and externally developed), System I (and/or other relevant) hardware, configuration and issues interface. Researches system code, or consults with our vendors, to identify the root cause errors and makes the necessary coding changes, fixes, workarounds to resolve problems. Maintain and support current applications and systems including supervising project teams and coaching other analysts and programmers.
- Lead (ad hoc) project teams of technical and user personnel in the analysis, design, selection of approach (build vs. buy) configuration, integration and operation of Allied's business systems, if purchase is an option. Senior Programmer/Analysts work with business users to define scope and deliverables of assigned application development projects. translates system specifications/requirements into logical system processes; develops system documentation; proposes potential solutions and work estimates.
- Develop, where purchase is not preferred, new and/or enhanced systems and/or subsystems using IBM i-Series technology and any other applicable software development tools. Writes or modifies program code using RPG and other applicable programming and query languages (e.g. SQL)
- Develops and executes system test plans to ensure application performance conforms to specifications; develops standards and procedures to obtain optimum, reliable performance of Allied's business systems. Testing as applicable: Unit, Application, Integration, System and User Acceptance
Qualifications
- 4-Year College Degree in the field or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of Application Development
- 3+ years Managing Development Projects
- 5+ years' experience in SQL, systems analysis and e with complex relational database structures using In-depth knowledge of IBM System I (AS400) operations and file system
- Must have experience with Salesforce Experience Cloud and Commerce Cloud
- IBM DB2 File Organizer, AS400- RPG 2, RPG 4, RPG ILE, Freeform RPG and Microsoft File System and Access/integration
- Exceptional written communications, technical writing skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Friendly and collaborative interpersonal skills
