We are a 3 year running Top Workplace in the Greater St. Louis area.Job SummaryLeonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Software Engineering Manager for our Bridgeton, MO facility. This role will be responsible for supervising and developing a team of software engineers on activities and the completion of the activities on time and budget. The software group is responsible for the design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems. The position must also have the ability to complete a technical project independently and to mentor and/or coach other engineers.Job ResponsibilitiesManage/Supervise and direct the work of a software engineering team responsible for driving technology through means of design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.Develop and performance manage software groupManage budget, cost and schedule input and design assignments for the software departmentContinuously improve engineering practices for the software platform to support efficiency, reliability, and serviceability goalsReview customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.Apply technical expertise to lead software engineering team through solving complex embedded design problemsDevelop a strong technical platform vision that encourages team members to build configuration driven platform tools to allow the principles of the team to scale throughout the organizationDrive the program design to cost and designDocument component and subsystem specifications requirementsParticipate in preparation of proposalsResponsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirementsWork closely with staff to conceptualize systems and software technical designsSupport and participate in technical engineering support activities, such as design reviewsPerform the design, development, modification, analysis, and/or documentation of various software systemsJob Responsibilities Part IIParticipate in resolution of technical issues within the company and outside suppliersAttend and participate in appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetingsMentor and/or coach either within or outside of direct staffSupervise a group independently, provide assistance to staff; communicate work priorities; verify accuracy of work and engineering employee developmentCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customer as requiredSupport, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated people and technical leadership capabilitiesProven Computer Science fundamentals in embedded development, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysisExperience in one of the following: C, C++, C# and/or JavaExperience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customersExperience influencing software engineering best practices within the teamExcellent analytical and communication skills, written and verbalStrong mentor of peers and subordinatesExperience with Linux/Unix is preferredAbility to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance is requiredU.S. Citizenship required.
