Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:This position will be responsible for leading a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to software projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve techniques, procedures, and/or products and technologies.ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Answer technical questions and define project requirements for Customers and SalesDetermine project feasibility, assess risk and resource availabilityGenerate project timelines and hour estimatesExercise independent judgment and draw conclusions based upon available informationReviewing new designs for adaptation to existing software and defining clear direction of new softwareAssist multidisciplined team in troubleshootingDevelop Engineering Specifications and ManualsCreate and update best practices and procedures for software engineers to reduce time and improve performanceBalance workloads within the Software engineering team and communicate needs to meet company performance goalsPerform employee evaluations, apply disciplinary action when required and lead new employee interviewsDevelop employees to build upon their skillsetsLead team thru examples of high Character and CompetenceCoordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Service, Assembly, and Sales on new order proposals and project plansWork with peers in multiple departments and vendors to advance proprietary technologies and conceptualize new design features and functionsWork closely with teams to plan, problem solve engineering obstacles and manage projects from inception to market releaseCommunicate local projects, debugging, and goals to Global regionsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Review department software resource needsHire and coordinate training of new employeesWrite and deliver performance reviews for direct reports with emphasis on growth and continuous improvementObserve, train and coach employees in daily work activitiesHold engineers accountable to maintain planned deadlinesReview outstanding tasks, prioritize and communicate status within the companyMINIMUM EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, preferably computer science or software development, and/or equivalent experience7+ years of experience in software engineering design and development within a manufacturing environment such as automated machinery, multi-stage conveyance systems or finished electro-mechanical components2+ years of experience in a Supervisory role and or extended Team Lead experienceExperience with PC based PLC programming structured text - CoDeSysExperience with Visual StudioExperience with object-oriented programmingExperience in Git or Source HubAbility to read blueprints and schematicsKnowledgeable of software development concepts, process, and toolsADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Strong problem solving capability with personal flexibilityAbility to set priorities and delegate tasksExcellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to collaborate and lead multifaceted teams from proposal thru installationSelf-starter, motivated to take on multiple projects and lead them thru completionLeadership training and examples of applicationKnowledgeable in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) theory and part programmingExcellent communication and writing skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional teamKnowledgeable of C# and .NetProven ability to assess existing systems and make technical recommendationsPROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT:While in the shop environmentSteel-toe shoesEye protectionWORKING ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
