Compensation: $115,000-$130,000
The Solar Project Engineer position is HYBRID you MUST reside in in the LA area of California. The position will also be expected to travel to project sites 25-50% per month based on project needs.

- Experience with residential solar, energy storage and utility interconnection projects
- Electrical background and familiar with NEC 2017/2020, NFPA 70, 2019 CEC codes
- Excel at designing and structuring project solutions that satisfy multiple requirements.
- Familiarity with solar / battery project development cycle and related design tools
- Working knowledge of critical system components such as solar panels, inverters, batteries, inverters, transformers, control systems, etc.
- Ability to analyze solar and battery related incentives and economics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time-sensitive projects with competing deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and with collaborative remote stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional team members from other disciplines.
What You'll Do
The Project Engineer will serve as the key technical resource within the Company to drive projects from conceptual design to a buildable project. You will regularly engage with technical and business leaders internally and externally to prove out project designs and make forward progress. You will leverage strong project engineering and construction experience. The successful candidate will know how to lead and support depending on circumstances, adjusting dynamically to meet team objectives. This includes but is not limited to:
- Support all aspects of Project Development including interdependencies with other departments.
- Manage internal and external (partner) engineering and design deliverables.
- Communicate and reinforce design requirements and establish design review processes.
- Perform technical review of EPC contractor deliverables with focus on quality control.
- Managing technical diligence associated with the projects, including interconnection support, EPC partner requests, Finance requirements, and investor diligence.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and task orders.
- Identify and evaluate solutions, products, or suppliers to help meet project objectives.
- Solicit and evaluate supplier quotes and evaluate for best fit.
- Develop and utilize process standards and document templates to drive repeatability.
- Support procurement deliverables such as purchase orders, task orders, etc.
- Perform site visits for project assessment and feasibility when needed.
- Additional duties as assigned and/or directed.
- This position reports to the Director of Development & Planning.
Required Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor of Science or similar academic degree focused on, electrical engineering, power systems, systems engineering, etc.
- 3-7 years professional experience in relevant field (Engineering, Construction, Utility)
- Demonstrated strong engineering and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of energy markets and utility incentive programs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Business suites, and AutoCAD-like design tools
- Candidates MUST be based in California
- This role is expected to travel to project sites 25-50% of their working days per month depending on project needs.
