Position Summary

This position is organizationally located within the Joint Service Member Support Unit, Family Readiness Program. The purpose of the position is to serve as a fully independent advisor and provide input to develop, articulate, and implement the Family Readiness Program. This includes family readiness, family assistance, employment outreach, volunteer management, and improving the quality of life and well-being of Service members and families. In addition, this position manages and operates the family assistant center and provides assistance to commands within their geographical area of responsibility in support of the Family Readiness Program. This position is responsible for conducting informal and formal training, recruiting support volunteers to work with the Family Readiness Groups (FRGs), and instructing and training units, soldiers, and their families using National Guard Bureau and Directorate provided and approved curriculum.

Salary Information

Starting pay for this position is $25.90 per hour.

This position is in the 07/04 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.

For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Job Details

Conditions of Employment:

* Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment

* In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check

* In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation and an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information

* Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies

* The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.

* The employee may be required to support and resource emergency family assistance centers

* This position will be expected to report to the Department of Military Affairs Headquarters in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program

Qualifications

Candidates who meet all the minimum qualifications will have experience with:

* Communicating across social media platforms, drafting memorandums, official correspondence, letters, forms, blogs, newsletters, and flyers

* Conducting formal trainings and briefing small and large groups on quality of life topics. Experience should also include preparing lecture notes, lesson guides, reference materials and other resources.

* Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, Well-Qualified candidates will also have experience with:

* Assessing customer service requests and providing information, resources, or referrals to internal and external agencies.

* Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing metrics and communicating trends using Excel or similar computer software programs.

* State, federal, and county level regulations, programs, and benefits associated with military life cycle.

* Unique challenges associated with the military lifestyle and the importance of personal and family readiness
