If you're looking for meaningful work and the chance to serve, bring your skills and talent to Durham!Hiring Range: $40,727.00 - $42,765.00Hours: 40 hours per weekMonday – Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm and Saturdays from 7:30am to 12:30 pm (o ne day off during the week will be assigned)Devoted to collecting, transporting and disposing municipal solid and yard waste through the performance of semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions, requiring minimal prior training or experience. There is an established and specified routine to be followed and limited decision-making, restricted to choosing and safely using the proper work tools.Responsible for cleaning facilities and/or equipment; performing basic maintenance of equipment, grounds, and facilities; performing manual labor; assisting with projects that require semi-skilled labor; providing customer service; and keeping records and reporting maintenance needs to higher authority that fall outside of the scope of the work assigned.Work is performed under general supervision.Duties/ResponsibilitiesAssists in the daily operations of the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center.Assist, direct, and inform the public in full and proper use of the various areas at Waste Disposal and Recycling Center.Minimum Qualifications & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).One year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment.A valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.This position is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.Additional Preferred SkillsWilling and able to work in various types of weather conditions (high temperatures, snow, rain, sleet, etc.).Willing and able to wear (PPE) as needed.Benefits – General Full-Time Employees12-13 paid holidays per year13 standard work days of vacation per year13 standard work days of sick leave per year, which accumulates indefinitely; sick leave may be used toward early retirement2 weeks paid military leave per yearMedical, dental, vision, and supplemental life insurance plansState and City retirement plansShort and long term disability plansPaid temporary disability leave for specified conditionsCity contribution of 13.6% into the N.C.
