Overview Pediatrix Medical Group has an opprtunity for a full time sonographer at our Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinc in the robust city of Houston. Boyd Mathew, Sonographer, Pediatrix Medical Group Responsibilities The Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. Escorts patient and family to and from examination room. Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results. Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician. Maintains patient charts and records, and records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician. Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature. Reviews studies with physicians. Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Codes appropriate for services performed. Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action. Maintains laundry for examination rooms. Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies. Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable. Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards. Follows and complies with safety and security training. Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences. Performs related and other assigned duties as directed. Qualifications An individual must possess a current/valid certification in diagnostic ultrasound. Minimum of 1 year experience required. Experience in OBGYN or MFM required. Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program. Must have OBGYN certification through the American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
