The Staff Sonographer performs departmental ultrasound examinations, assists the radiologists during

procedures, produces high quality images. Serves the following age specific patient populations: pediatrics,

adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Preferred 1 to 3 years of experience as a staff US technologist

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  • Uses two patient identifiers
  • Compares doctors order to requisition for accuracy
  • Performs the correct exam
  • Includes all anatomy required to produce an adequate exam.
  • Practices safe use of Cidex or Trophon when cleaning probes
  • Routinely demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Coordinates multiple exams into the proper sequence to ensure no conflicts of exams.
  • Assesses the doctors order and the patients diagnosis to determine optimal images.
  • Assesses patients condition, comfort, and safety during procedures.
  • Observes and reports to physician any change in patients condition during the procedure.
  • Communicates accurate patient information in a timely manner to peers, physicians, and other departments.
  • Uses all diagnostic, computer, and communication equipment within safe limits.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

    High School graduate or equivalent

    Graduate of accredited school of Ultrasound

    Must be registered in ARDMS within 1 year of hiring

    Basic Life Support (BLS) per thze American Heart Association

    All diagnostic imaging approved instrumentation, computers and communication equipment.
