Job Description: Are you a talented and compassionate Sonographer looking to make a meaningful impact in patient care? UPMC Northwest is looking for a skilled Sonographer to join our dedicated team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to independently perform a variety of imaging procedures using advanced ultrasound technology, while contributing to essential diagnostic efforts that make a difference in patients' lives.\n The title of this role is dependent on years of experience and leader discretion.\n This position is eligible for a $6,000 sign-on bonus with 2 year commitment.\n Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.\n Responsibilities:\n\nAssists physicians with invasive procedures as needed, adhering strictly to universal protocol standards to ensure patient safety and procedure accuracy.\nEnsures proper coding and tracking of all exams within assigned responsibilities, utilizing the RIS system and ensuring proper network connectivity to ISITE for archiving and interpretation.\nAccurately enters all charges for completed exams, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with institutional protocols.\nMay be responsible for high-level disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment to maintain a sterile and safe clinical environment.\nEffectively communicates procedure instructions to patients, alleviating concerns and fostering cooperation by explaining the process in a clear, concise manner.\nIdentifies patients using two identifiers and follows universal protocol when performing procedures, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Reviews patient history and physician orders to optimize results.\nPerforms various technical ultrasound procedures under physician supervision, correlating patient history and lab data to assist in accurate medical diagnosis.\nDemonstrates professionalism and compassion in patient and team interactions, maintaining a respectful, cooperative environment while optimizing patient care and workflow efficiency.\n Required:\n\nCompletion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)\n\n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.RDMS registered or registry eligible preferred.Completion of Physics portion of registry preferred.Must obtain RDMS within 12 months of hire date.\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\nRegistered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)\n\n UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
