SCH is offering a sign-on bonus for this position up to $5,000.00 POSITION SUMMARY: The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer/Radiology Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography, with a primary focus on breast ultrasounds. Responsible for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance and report of equipment failures. Responsible for the application of radioactivity and x-rays to patients for diagnostic or therapeutic reasons, including positioning of patients, operation of equipment, x-ray film development; maintains film files and prepares reports; performs minor repairs to equipment as appropriate. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with specialty training and certification in Breast examination tests preferred. CME requirements for specialties as appropriate. Technical Certificate in Radiology Technology and NY State License to work as a Radiology Technologist. 1-5 years of experience required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ambulatory - 95% Sedentary- 5% Subject to stress and fatigue. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination when working with patients and equipment. Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. The employee must be physically capable of carrying out all assigned duties. Strength sufficient to lift and/or help position patients, move heavy equipment on wheels up to approximately 500 lbs., and to move patients in wheelchairs. Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning. Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. This is a 40 hour per week position.
