Join our passionate culinary team at a new Michelin-aspiring restaurant located in the vibrant heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Under the guidance of our visionary chef-owner, we are committed to creating an unforgettable dining experience, where every dish is crafted with precision and artistry. Scheduled to open in Fall 2024, we're looking for a talented Sous Chef to help us achieve our culinary dreams.

As our Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen, supporting the executive chef in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation. Your culinary expertise and leadership will help foster a creative and efficient kitchen environment, while contributing to the development of our exciting menu.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Culinary Excellence: Assist in menu creation and execution, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative team atmosphere.
  • Kitchen Operations: Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management, food safety practices, and equipment maintenance.
  • Quality Control: Ensure consistent quality in all food preparations and adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
  • Training & Development: Conduct training sessions for new and existing staff to promote skill development and culinary techniques.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the executive chef on menu planning, seasonal ingredients, and special events.
  • Creative Input: Contribute new ideas for dishes and menu items, embracing a culture of creativity and experimentation.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary Expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen, preferably in fine dining or Michelin-rated establishments.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in a leadership role within a kitchen, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Technical Skills: Strong culinary skills with a solid understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
