Job Description:
Midtown Restaurant is in search of an experienced Sous Chef to bring his or her skills and expertise to our expanding team. The Sous Chef will follow the recipes established by our Executive Chef, follow instructions of the kitchen Head Chef, making sure that the food produced is of the highest quality and that the kitchen is clean and compliant with all health regulations.Job Responsibilities:Train new and existing kitchen staff on the preparation, arrangement, and plating of dishes per the current menu.Ensure all staff members adhere to culinary standards and regulationsRespond to customer inquiries and concerns personallyDesign new menu choices based on seasonal ingredients and customer demandTrack, record and replenish inventory as neededCross-train kitchen staff on multiple stationsDirects food preparation and collaborates with head chefProduces high quality plates, including both design and tasteOversees and supervises kitchen staffAssists with inventory and management of suppliesEnsure Department of Health regulations are being followed and that the kitchen is sanitary and safe to work in.Trains new employeesOrders food suppliesRequirements:At least 2 years experience working as a cook in a New York City RestaurantExperience working in a French restaurant is preferred, but not requiredAble to stand for long period of timeMust have good communication skills in order to work efficiently with other staff as well as upper managementMust be eligible to work in the United StatesAbility to take direction and work on multiple tasks at onceMust be hardworking and work well with othersMust be authorized to work in the United StatesMore detail about The Consulate part of The Consulate, please visit
