The RoleThe Sous Chef is responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by developing, overseeing, supervising, and leading the kitchen team at our newest property, The Seeker. As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with James Beard Award-winning celebrity Chef Stephan Pyles, a 5th generation Texan and founding father of Southwestern Cuisine,to maximize revenues and profits while maintaining superior standards and integrity of our food program throughout the property.

Responsibilities of this leadership role include ensuring successful kitchen operations, developing and motivating back-of-house (BOH) staff, managing budgeted targets, overseeing a seasonal, delicious, and sanitary culinary program, as well as creating a vibrant culture of hospitality. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Restaurant General Manager, and Chef Pyles to develop innovative, regionally inspired menus and dishes that reflect the brand ethos of Life House Hotels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily department and team activities effectively.
  • Coordinate menu planning and implementation.
  • Maintain and improve food standards and presentation.
  • Organize cost-effective and hygienic food production.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and discipline of the kitchen team.
  • Improve operational efficiency without compromising service quality.
  • Control food and labor costs.
  • Provide leadership support, coaching, and recognition to team members.
  • Supervise kitchen personnel and ensure timely food production.
  • Uphold hospitality standards, resolve guest complaints, and comply with regulations.

Physical RequirementsWhile performing the required duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods. Requirements & Experience

  • Expertise in restaurant operations with comprehensive knowledge of internal departments.
  • Mastery of various culinary styles and proficiency in all line-level cooking stations.
  • Maintains a consistently high level of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and late hours.
  • Punctuality is a must; ability to report to work on time as scheduled.
  • Endurance for extended periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Demonstrates a guest-responsive culture with exceptional service as the top priority.
  • Attentive, accountable, highly organized, and adept at planning multiple activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including phone etiquette.
