Job Position Title: Sous Chef
Reports to: Owner/Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a versatile and hardworking individual to join our kitchen team. As a Sous Chef, you'll be responsible for service time team management and oversee preparation of menu items. Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and food preparation.
Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and taste.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels.
Develop and test new recipes and menu items.
Oversee kitchen cleanliness and organization.
Handle kitchen opening and closing duties as needed.
Expedite orders to ensure timely service.
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
Essential Duties:
Cook on the line during set service times (Range, Oven & Deep Fryer)
Perform routine kitchen tasks quickly and efficiently
Follow the prep list created to plan duties
Label, date, and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal preparations
Set up workstations and ingredients both for service and food preparation
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, mopping floors, and routine kitchen cleaning
Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly
Comply with sanitation guidelines
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Maintain a clean kitchen and properly wash and sort soiled dishes
Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift
Required Skills and Abilities:
Must be punctual, organized, dependable, and reliable
Must be able to move and work quickly and efficiently
Must possess common sense and critical thinking skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to work well as part of a team
Ability to maintain personal hygiene

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods walking or standing
Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 60 pounds at a time
Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and wipe frequently
Must frequently immerse hands in water
Must be able to work in a hot and damp environment
Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen
Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment
Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks

Training Requirements:
Kitchen experience required
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Training from a culinary school is an asset
Proven experience as a cook is an asset
Certifications Required:
