This role involves coordinating with project managers, supervising field personnel, and ensuring that all earthmoving activities are completed safely, on time, and within budget.District OverviewKiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts, specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could work on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations, or tunnels. Although most of our work is regionally based in the Southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the East Coast. We are looking for individuals passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry instead of design.LocationAiken, SCResponsibilitiesLead an effective, disciplined team, delegating responsibilities and setting goals to produce high-quality work that meets the requirements of company policies, procedures, industry standards, and client expectations.Assist in the hiring, training, and development of craft personnel.Develop open communications with Crews, Field Engineers/Coordinators, Safety QA/QC, and Clients.Liaise with field engineers to ensure construction complies with drawings, specifications, and all contractual requirements.Assist in preparing and executing work plans, manpower levels, material quantities, schedules, and equipment requirements.Monitor the unit man-hour performance report on a weekly basis.Monitor the job schedule to ensure it's on track, coordinate work with contractors and deliveries with suppliers, and ensure inspections are scheduled appropriately.Examine/inspect field conditions, troubleshoot problems, correct inaccuracies, and implement cost-saving measures.Monitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines for the job and ensure that cost control measures are followed.Provide job safety training and proactively identify workplace safety hazards, creating safety awareness and taking corrective action.Oversee quality standards and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards areInform senior leadership and project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc., and assist in troubleshooting these issues.Perform other job-related duties as requested by your supervisorQualificationsOver 8 + years of experience in a Superintendent role on large, heavy civil construction projects. Ideally, having roadway, earthmoving, grading, and dirt experience is required.Understanding of cost management processes, planning, and scheduling.Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.Experience in managing up to 20 craft employees at a time.Effective oral and written communication skills.Strong organization/time management skills.Work independently as well as part of a team.Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.Exhibits integrity and ethical behavior in all things; understands Kiewit's ethics policy of knowing and acting within policies and practices.#LI-LM3Working ConditionsInsert hereOther Requirements:Regular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.Perform work safely and effectively.
