DescriptionNOTE: REVISED MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME AQUATICS POSITIONS!The Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Southern Area Operations Division, is currently seeking seasonal/intermittent applicants to fill a variety of positions at the Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex inBrandywine, Maryland.Work hours are flexible and include evening, nights, holidays and weekends.Examples of Important DutiesAdministrative Assistants: $15.00/hour - $15.52/hourDisplay a positive attitude. Answer the telephone in a timely manner and transfer all calls to the appropriate staff. Relay messages and distribute mail to the appropriate staff. Provide a wide variety of technical support to Managers. Create, review, and submit computer documents and paperwork for approval and processing. Maintain up to date files. Communicate with Managers of all venues. Help track facility revenue and expenditures. Help monitor necessary administrative supplies and materials to obtain timely replenishments for efficient operations. Monitor the work area/facility with a conscientious effort to promote the efficient use of supplies and materials. Performs other related duties as assigned. Previous Administrative experience a plus!Aquatics Positions: $15.00/hour - $28.94/hourThere are multiple Aquatics Positions available in SAARC to include: Life Guards, Pool Managers, Ramp Guard Slide Attendants, Swim Lesson Aides & Coordinators, Water Fitness & Water Safety Instructors, etc. Specific minimum qualifications required based on position.Arts Positions: $15.00/hour - $15.52/hourThere are multiple Arts Positions available in SAARC to include: Instructors, Program Leaders, Technicians (stage, lighting, and sound), etc. Specific minimum qualifications required based on position.Café Attendants: $15.00/hour - $15.52/hourDisplay a positive attitude. Greet customers, set up and open, stock, break down and clean, and inventory. Maintain a safe and hygienic appearance and work area. Take orders, collect payment, and prepare food and beverages. Follow all company, safety and security policies and procedures. Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries in a timely manner. Complete safety trainings and certifications as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Previous food prep/service and/or cash handling experience or certification a plus!Custodial/Grounds: $15.00/hour - $15.52/hourDisplay a positive attitude. Cleaning and maintain the entire complex, interior and exterior.Clean glass and stainless steel surfaces, dust, remove trash, sweep, mop, and vacuum. Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock supplies. Perform minor maintenance and repairs. Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries in a timely manner. Monitor the work area/facility with a conscientious effort to promote the efficient use of power, fuel, telecom, and water. Properly recycle Commission waste including paper, plastic, glass, and other products. Performs other related duties as assigned. Previous custodial, grounds keeping or maintenance experience a plus!Customer Service Representatives: $15.00/hour - $15.52/hourThere are several Customer Service Positions available in SAARC to include: Front Desk, Course Coordination Support, Drop-in Childcare, Gymnasium Attendant, Membership Specialist, Pro Shop Attendant, Rental Attendant, and Special Event Staff. Customer Service Representatives must consistently display a positive attitude and remain knowledgeable of all facility activities and procedures. Examples of important duties include: greet customers and answer telephones in a timely manner. Transfer all calls to the appropriate staff. Relay messages and distribute mail to the appropriate staff. Efficiently use the computer to register patrons for courses, memberships, and special events. Physically assist customers with locating classes, rental parties, and special events within the facility. Provide safe, engaging, quality drop-in childcare activities for small groups of children ages 5-12. Monitor sports activities in the Gymnasium. Ensure all facility safety and operations rules and regulations are being followed. Sell/upsell facility memberships and promotional items. Clean, load in, set up, monitor, break down and load out rental parties and special events. Perform other related duties as assigned. Ideal candidates must be able to successfully multi-task within a fast-paced environment and thoroughly enjoy going above and beyond to help people. Responsible drivers needed to safely transport participants to and from program activities in M-NCPPC vehicles. Drivers are required to ensure all passengers are safely secured in vehicles, ensure the vehicle is clean and well maintained and adhere to emergency policies and procedures. Must have a valid Class C or D Driver's License with no more than one (1) point on driving record. Must have a minimum of two years or more of experience driving, minimum age 21, and attain Defense Driving certification.Fitness Specialists: $15.00/hour - $15.52/hourDisplay a positive attitude. Demonstrate a general knowledge of cardiovascular and strength training principles according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, stoop, and spot repeatedly without extended delay or difficulty. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly without extended delay or difficulty. Perform other relevant duties as assigned. Examples of important duties include: Physically monitor staff and activities in each venue ensuring all facility safety and operations rules and regulations are being followed. Supervise and provide assistance to designated personnel. Counsel staff on ways to improve performance. Assist in the selection and training of staff. Recommend disciplinary actions as needed. Assist proper authorities with investigating and report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries in a timely manner. Monitor necessary supplies and materials to obtain timely replenishments for efficient operations. Effectively resolve any/all customer service issues in a timely manner consistent with M-NCPPC policy. Ideal candidates must be able to quickly and professionally diffuse escalating situations and safely bring satisfactory resolution. Previous leadership, management and/or supervisory experience required.Personal Trainers: $15.00/hour - $26.00/hourDisplay a positive attitude. Safely demonstrate exercises/routines. Assist clients to minimize injury and promote fitness. Modify exercises according to clients' fitness levels. Monitor client progress, provide information and resources on general fitness and health issues. Administer emergency first aid if necessary. Create individualized plans for achieving client fitness goals. Guide clients through fitness routines, nutrition recommendations, and health assessments. Staff must develop, implement and be willing to participate in quality on and off-site program activities and community outreach events.
