Spacecraft Development EngineerDepartment: Spacecraft ProgramsEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Redondo Beach Reporting To: Drew Damon, VP of Spacecraft Programs Compensation: $105,000 - $155,000 / yearDescriptionAs a Spacecraft Development Engineer at Impulse, you will work on diverse projects to support rapid spacecraft development and operations, while collaborating closely with a fast-paced, agile team. Responsibilities
- Drive requirements definition and verification, system level analysis, risk mitigation strategies, payload integration, and on-orbit operations planning
- Support formulation of all phases of a spacecraft lifecycle
- Own the delivery of a full spacecraft or major subsystems through critical phases of the lifecycle
- Work with the design and manufacturing teams to produce hardware
- Ensure that the performance and function of the hardware and software meets intent
- Support system-level test preparation, planning, and execution
- Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field
- 3+ years' of hands-on experience working with mechanical, fluids, or electrical systems
- 3+ years' of demonstrated ability in conceptual design, fabrication and testing of hardware
- Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well in a small team
- Experience with CAD to design hardware
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with emphasis on laboratory and/or practical applications
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials
- Familiarity with analysis programming such as MATLAB, Excel, etc.
- Prior experience in development and/or testing
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Additional Information:Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
