Job Description: Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pmEducation and Experience:
- Fluency in Spanish & English.
- High School Diploma
- Prior training in medical interpreting and/or Certificate of completion of a Medical Interpreting program, preferred but not required
- Formal Interpreting Experience is required
- Medical Interpreting Experience is preferred
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Assists patients and staff within all areas of the outpatient health clinic
- Has ability to interpret between Spanish and English while attending to patients in all clinical settings: reception, pharmacy, lab, radiology, medical and behavioral health exam rooms, and in the waiting rooms
- Carefully listens to or reads content-including jargon and acronyms-in the original language.
- Understands and analyzes what is being said or written, and effectively and accurately translates the message, intent, and nuances being communicated.
- Reproduces statements or questions in the desired output language.
- Provides simultaneous interpretation (SI) or consecutive interpretation (CI) depending on the desired outcome.
- Protects the confidentiality of information and adheres to any related ethical or professional codes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
