Spanish Teachers for the 2024-2025 School YearPOSITION STATUS: Part-time, 10-Month, 2 positionsPOSITION OVERVIEW: Loyola is seeking two part-time teachers: one teacher for Spanish 1 (3 sections and a prep) and another teacher for Spanish 2 (4 sections and a prep). We are open to hiring one person to work full-time to teach all Spanish sections.REPORTS TO: PrincipalLoyola High School develops young men to be leaders who will set the world on fire with God's love. The focus of our mission is to prepare young men for high school graduation, college acceptance, and future contributions to family and community as Men for Others, Men for Detroit.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and implement creative lessons and inspire students to learn.
  • Teach and develop student skills in language acquisition and usage and understanding of and appreciation for world culture.
  • Demonstrate instructional practices that engage students in conceptual thinking, promote problem solving and creativity, and challenge students to achieve high standards of content mastery.
  • Take ownership for student academic progress and show an active interest in student achievement.
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt delivery to meet the needs of students with varying academic skill levels.
  • Communicate timely and effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborate with staff and other professionals to plan lessons and meet student needs.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Understanding of Ignatian pedagogy and commitment to Jesuit values.
  • Excellent interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and data-driven decision-making.
  • High enthusiasm for the mission of Loyola High School.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree and Michigan teaching certification or pathway to certification required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
