Join us!Job SummaryThe Special Agent - US is responsible for supporting CN's business, people and reputation by proactively changing people's attitudes and behaviours towards rail safety through proactive enforcement, educational, engineering and engagement initiatives designed to reduce train versus incidents and save lives. The incumbent provides training to internal employees, as well as local police and community members.Main ResponsibilitiesOperations• Conduct proactive, targeted enforcement• Answer calls for service• Respond to emergency calls related to the railroad• Conduct investigations as directed by CN Police management in an effort to protect CN's freight and railroad propertyEducation and Awareness• Provide rail safety training• Provide information sessions to local law enforcement personnel and local community members• Conduct rail safety presentations to a variety of audiencesOwnership of Territory (Customer Oriented Policing Territory)• Ensure security and safety of designated territory by establishing priorities and identifying potentially dangerous areas requiring improvements and repairs• Proactively engage with a variety of community stakeholders to identify and address specific actions needed in order to reduce incidents and save lives• Proactively identify and address any security risks affecting CN• Identify areas requiring improvement and repairs as well as traffic and trespassing enforcement• Work with city officials and Engineering to determine actions to take in order to reduce risks in specific areasPartnerships• Continuously build professional relationships with key stakeholders with the federal, state and local law enforcement authorities• Build professional relationships with CN employees in an ongoing effort to protect CN's people, business and reputationWorking ConditionsThe role is performed in a combination of an office environment and outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions and with a workweek including weekdays, weekends and some statutory holidays depending on the service needs. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.
