Job Summary: This role involves working closely with officials from lending institutions and borrowers to enhance the security of collateral, equity, and other borrower assets. The position also includes negotiating the sale of real estate owned by the institution, ensuring optimal value recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Review and Restructuring
- Collaborates with borrowers to review and restructure credit and repayment terms as necessary.
- Modifies credit and repayment terms to better secure collateral, establish an equity position, or create additional recourse to borrower assets in the event of a potential charge-off.
- Conducts in-depth assessments of borrowers' ability to meet obligations under debt restructures, forbearance agreements, or loan modifications.
Portfolio Management and Credit File Review
- Maintains regular communication with customers to ensure financial information is current and in compliance with loan agreements.
- Conducts thorough reviews of credit portfolios, evaluating the financial health, repayment ability, and collateral position of borrowers and guarantors, ensuring appropriate risk ratings and managing potential charge-offs effectively.
- Charge-Off Minimization
- Develops and implements strategies to minimize loan charge-offs from non-performing loans, working to return loans to performing status where possible.
Negotiation
- Negotiates repayment agreements with attorneys, debtor company management, other creditors, and lending professionals from external institutions.
Fund Recovery
- Designs and implements recovery strategies to reclaim principal from borrowers whose loans have been charged off.
- Works closely with commercial lending, legal, and other departments to maximize the recovery of funds.
Continuous Improvement
- Provides actionable recommendations to senior management regarding credit and loan structure improvements to strengthen internal policies and reduce operational weaknesses.
Sale Negotiation
- Negotiates the sale of assets obtained through legal action, particularly in the disposition of commercial and construction properties.
- Collaborates with real estate brokers, consultants, and other professionals to expedite asset liquidation.
- Other Responsibilities
- Performs additional duties as assigned, ensuring all tasks align with the institution's objectives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in loan review, credit analysis, credit workout, or a related field.
- Strong coordination skills to resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of mentoring and developing team members.
