About Jeffrey RosenJeffrey Rosen is President & CEO of the National Constitution Center. He is also a Professor of Law at The George Washington University Law School and a Contributing Editor at The Atlantic. Rosen is a graduate of Harvard College, Oxford University, and Yale Law School. He is the author of eight books, including The Pursuit of Happiness: How Classical Writers on Virtue Inspired the Lives of the Founders and Defined America (2024). His other books include the New York Times bestseller Conversations with RBG: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Life, Love, Liberty, and Law as well as biographies of Louis Brandeis and William Howard Taft. His essays and commentaries have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, on National Public Radio, in The New Republic, where he was the legal affairs editor, and in The New Yorker, where he has been a staff writer. Position SummaryThe Special Assistant to the President & CEO is a key linchpin in the National Constitution Center's work to educate the American people on the Constitution and its ideals. The person in this role works closely with the NCC's President and CEO, Jeffrey Rosen, providing support on all aspects of his work advancing this important mission; assist in his academic/intellectual work-books, articles, podcasts, etc.-by engaging in research on constitutional, legal, historical, and other issues; prepping him for meetings, events, and media appearances; interfacing with NCC leadership, staff, trustees, donors, scholars, and partners; and managing administrative duties, including the CEO's agenda, schedule, and travel. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Expedite projects that require the CEO's involvement; take lead in special initiatives and projects as assigned
  • Provide research and editing support to help advance the CEO's written output, which include frequent opinion articles and long-form book projects
  • Provide guidance to the Content Department in preparing long-form research memos for the CEO's moderated panels and weekly podcasts.
  • Brief and prep the CEO for media appearances on constitutional law; Supreme Court developments; and the mission and activities of the Center.
  • Brief and prep the CEO for upcoming meetings and events, serve as primary notetaker in both internal and external meetings, taking minutes and tracking action items
  • Interact with members of the Center's Board of Trustees; prepare the CEO for Board meetings and special events
  • Track the CEO's progress on weekly priorities and long-term projects, issuing reminders of outstanding tasks as needed
  • Prioritize internal and external requests, meetings, and to-do list to achieve maximum efficiency and optimal use of CEO's time. Communicate the CEO's schedule and priorities to colleagues across the organization.
  • Draft emails, letters, and other forms of correspondence
  • Help coordinate partnerships with external organizations and key stakeholders
  • Perform administrative duties for the CEO, such as maintaining his calendar, scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong written and verbal communication, detail orientation, research skills, and organization skills also a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or holidays as needed and assigned
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
  • Standing and walking may be required on an infrequent basis
  • Some light lifting, twenty (20) pounds or less, may be required on an infrequent basis
