Description The Special Collections and Archives (SCA) Assistant helps departmental staff and students with daily operations. The primary focus of this position is customer service: preparing for pre-arranged research visits, welcoming guests, and supervising their use of SCA materials in the reading room. Behind the scenes, the SCA Assistant will learn to use various departmental filing systems and will help students to reshelve materials.This is a one-year temporary position. This position is fulltime with the ability to participate in Berea College's comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees and their families. - Receives and confirms reading room appointments
- Oversees visitor registration and locker usage
- Monitors for compliance with security and safety protocols
- Compiles statistics about reading room visits and materials usage
- Assists other departmental staff members with responding to incoming research requests
- Orders general office supplies and equipment service as needed
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students. Typical Qualifications Education required to ensure success in this position:
