Job Description:
This position will serve students ages 6-12 a residential psychiatric treatment facility in our area - Broadstep.TITLE: Teacher QUALIFICATIONS:1.Bachelor Degree in Education or related field with passing score on the PRAXIS Exam or2.Alternative Certification Program with a passing score on the PRAXIS Exam in the desired area of teaching3.Assumes responsibility for the instruction of assigned students in designated subject area(s) in accordance with the course of study approved by the SC State Department of Education4.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptableREPORTS TO:Principal or his/her designeeSUPERVISES:StudentsJOB PURPOSE:Assumes responsibility for the instruction of assigned students in designated subject matter area (s) in accordance with the course of study approved by the Board of Education and the approved curriculum of the district.byProviding an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with the South Carolina State Department of Education.TERM OF EMPLOYMENT 190 daysESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS1.Ensures academic outcomebyimplementing South Carolina Academic Standards and the District Curriculum.2.Ensures safety for studentsbyestablishing and maintaining an effective and safe learning climate in the classroom, developing and enforcing rules of conduct; resolving teacher/parent/student conflicts.3.Ensure community supportbyestablishing and maintaining positive relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for all students' objectives and programs.4.Complies with federal, state and local requirementsbyimplementing and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, Board Policy, state and federal policies. Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.5.Ensure efficient and effective use of resourcesbyidentifying, selecting, and modifying instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.6.Maintain professional competencebyparticipating in professional development; by meeting professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating programs.7.Perform other related duties as required.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations of certified personnel.FLSA Status: Exempt
