Position Type: Teacher/Teacher - Special EducationDate Posted: 8/5/2024Location: DistrictwideDate Available: 2024 - 25 School YearSpecial Education ABLE Teacher Reports to: Principal Dept./School: Assigned Campus Duty Days: 187 Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: Refer to HR/Pay Scales at magnoliaisd.org Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned ESL certification required for respective positions General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Student teaching or approved internship Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction If an individual is providing content instruction in a special education classroom setting, a valid certificate that matches the subject and grade level of the assignment is also required, or the individual must demonstrate competency through the state's 2010 and 2011 high objective uniform State standard of evaluation for elementary and secondary special education teachers.Primary Purpose:Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program as required by district policy based on student needs.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Collaborate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and best practices according to district requirements.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with specific staff to accommodate and/or modify curriculum according to guidelines required by special programming, such as LPAC, RtI, 504, or ARD committees.
  • Consistently monitor student achievement through formal and informal assessment and use results to plan instructional delivery.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned by the campus principal.
  • Present positive role model for students.
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior by establishing procedures and routines that are in alignment with and board policies, the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline Management Plan, student IEPs and/or behavior plans.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Participate in school safety drills and perform other tasks and training necessary to ensure student and staff safety.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and staff members.
  • Engage in and implement new learning from professional development that is aligned with campus and district goals.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and aligned with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Understand and articulate the campus and district mission and goals.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district and campus improvement plans and initiate activities to address the needs identified therein.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for engaging parents and the community.
  • Plan purposeful assignments of instructional paraprofessionals and volunteers.
  • Equipment Used:Interactive white board, computer, printer, copier, and other emerging technologies that are particularly unique to the teaching assignment. Instructional and productivity software, as required by the teaching assignment.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise/monitor instructional paraprofessionals or student teacher(s) assigned by the principal.Working Conditions:Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, (e.g., relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.) The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignment(s) and requirements thereof.
