PRIMARY PURPOSE:Assist in the implementation of classroom programs including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal or certified teacher. Work with the special education teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in a special education setting.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:High School diploma or GEDValid Texas educational aide certificatePreferred Associate's Degree, a minimum of 48 college hours, or pass equivalency test (Necessary for Highly Qualified Status)Certification in CPR, first aid and AED may be required (ex. PPCD)Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work well with childrenAbility to work with children of disabilitiesAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsPatient and calm demeanor with students and othersAbility to communicate effectivelyBasic academic skillsExperience:One year experience working with children in an instructional setting preferredSchedule:187-work day
