Job SummaryThe San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Special Education Classroom Behavior Intervention Aide for the NCCSE (North Coastal Consortium for Special Education) SELPA Department of the Student Services and Programs Division. Under immediate supervision, in a special education classroom, this position supports special education students with social and emotional needs through behavioral interventions and academic support; performs student data collection tasks; assists teacher with classroom maintenance and operation. This position works 11 months/year. North County Academy (NCA) is a school located in Carlsbad operated by the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education SELPA in affiliation with the San Diego County Office of Education serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade.Requirements / QualificationsThis position requires a combination of completion of college-level course work in general academic subject areas such as math, science and English, and work experience in a school, other educational environment, or mental health environment. Experience working with students with social and emotional needs is highly desirable. Candidates must also demonstrate Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA, previously referred to as the NCLB Act) compliance. In order to satisfy the paraprofessional requirements of the ESSA, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: •Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; AND, •Completion of at least 48 semester units at an institution of higher education; OR •Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; OR •Successful completion of an assessment*, administered by the San Diego County Office of Education, in basic reading, writing, mathematics skills, and the ability to assist with instruction. *The ESSA exam will be administered by the SDCOE HR office to candidates who meet minimum requirements for the classification.To be considered for this position, you must individually attach the following items to your completed EDJOIN Application: •Resume, detailing education and experience as it relates to this position •Letter of Introduction (cover letter) •Copies of transcripts verifying Associate degree or completion of at least 48 college semester units The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is exhausted.Comments and Other InformationJoin our amazing team!The San Diego County Office of Education is a collaborative organization that works toward a future without boundaries for our students.
