Position Type: Early Learning Center/Preschool for All teacherDate Posted: 7/8/2024Location: MKM Early Learning CenterDate Available: 24/25Closing Date: Once FIlledEarly Childhood/PSFA SUMMARY: To create a flexible Early Childhood program and developmentally appropriate class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of children; to facilitate children's development of communication abilities, attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for future success in school, in accordance with each child's ability and based on the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards (IELDS); to build strong ties between home and school; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree with a Professional Educator License with Type 04 certification and an ELL endorsement registered in Lake County Illinois. QUALIFICATIONS: -Ability to work with children at multiple levels and help children succeed. -Ability to maintain regular and good work attendance and come to work on time. -Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others. -Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner. -Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines. -Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. -Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information. -Ability to create and maintain all student Individualized Education Programs (IEP). PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: -Provide learning experiences in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, fine arts, foreign language, social/emotional development, and other subject matter suited to the needs of children. -Develop and use instructional methods and materials suitable for instruction of children with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities presented through multiple learning modalities. -Provide ongoing observation and authentic assessment of children and maintain documentation of each child's progress and growth. -Develop individual educational plans (IEPs) designed to promote students' educational, physical, or social development and prepare developmental progress reports as needed. -Provide individual and small-group instruction designed to meet individual needs of children in communication skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of satisfactory self-concepts. -Work as IEP case manager, overseeing delivery of service minutes and ensuring IEP compliance, as well as communicating with all related service providers. -Plan and coordinate the work of aides, assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips in order to obtain the maximum benefit from their efforts. -Develop activities for parents that promote parent participation and involvement in education activities provided for their children. Communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, newsletters, home visits, and individual parent conferences. Provide appropriate climate to establish and reinforce acceptable child behavior, attitudes, and social skills. Serve as a member of team, building, and/or district level committees. Cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping children solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and through self-selected professional growth activities. Comply with DCFS mandated reporter guidelines. Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
