- Northside Center for Child Development is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Evaluator to join our team on a per diem basis. This position involves conducting educational evaluations to assess the needs of students and help develop appropriate educational plans. The role provides flexibility, with the opportunity to conduct evaluations twice a month or more, depending on demand. Evaluations must be performed on site.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations for students referred for special education services.
- Administer and interpret a variety of standardized tests and assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and areas of need.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, parents, and other specialists, to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on evaluation results.
- Provide detailed written reports summarizing findings, educational recommendations, and strategies tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all evaluations and assessments in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Communicate effectively with families, school staff, and other stakeholders to explain evaluation results and support educational planning.
- Stay updated on best practices and current research in special education assessment and intervention.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- Current New York State certification as a School Psychologist, Special Education Teacher, or related certification/licensure required.
- Experience conducting educational evaluations for children with diverse learning needs, including knowledge of various assessment tools and techniques.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- Experience working in urban education settings or with culturally diverse populations.
- Working Conditions:
- This is a per diem, contracted position with evaluations typically conducted twice a month, with the potential for additional evaluations based on demand.
- Evaluations are conducted on-site at Northside Center for Child Development in East Harlem.
$165 per monolingual evaluation; $215 per bilingual evaluation
