Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or C. Met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment. Mississippi uses ACT WorkKeys® assessment scores to measure this standard. a. Reading for Information Passing score = 4 b. Applied Mathematics Passing score = 4 c. Writing or Business Writing Passing score = 3 Reports to:Instructional Coach and PrincipalJob Goal:To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; Essential Functions:Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to: INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT: The paraprofessional with instructional duties will deliver the instructional program in an organized and effective manner by:
  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning the material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Devises special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  • Keeps bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up to date.
  • Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make up work, as assigned by the teacher.
  • Checks and records student attendance.
  • Collects and records collection of money.
  • Alerts the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
  • CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT - The paraprofessional with instructional duties will exhibit effective classroom management skills by
  • Providing a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning.
  • Consistently implementing approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The paraprofessional with instructional duties will exhibit professional growth by:
