SUMMARY:
- The Special Education AUTISM Elementary or Junior High Teacher is the lead classroom teacher, responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the assigned classroom program. Additionally, the Special Education Teacher provides classroom leadership and works in cooperation with assigned classroom staff.
- PAY: $50,000 - $70,000/year, salary/exempt , paid over school breaks, higher pay for highly qualified candidates.
- SIGN-ON BONUS: $3,000 for external candidates
- WORK HOURS: Full-time, generally 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, following the school calendar. Responsible for at least 3 weeks of summer school, ESY (extended school year).
- LOCATION: Hammitt School at 612 Oglesby, Normal, IL (Hammitt School's Oglesby Campus)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Educational Instruction: Plans, coordinates, evaluates, and implements a comprehensive curriculum which meets the individualized behavioral, academic and social needs of each student enrolled in the classroom and which is directly related to each child's Individualized Educational Plan. Assesses student performance levels (behavioral and academic) and recommends appropriate goals and objectives in the IEP staffing process.
- Progress Reporting: Collects, prepares and presents behavioral and academic data on each child in the classroom. Maintains behavioral data and applies statistical analysis as required by program standards to measure student progress.
- Lesson Plans: Develops and implements lesson plans that reflect best practice in specialized educational instruction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of special education and/or secondary education, specializing in teaching children with one or more of the following: behavior disabilities, emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, speech and language deficits and/or developmental disabilities.Special Education Teacher License (LBS-1 licensure with the State of Illinois in Special Education) in one or more of the above-mentioned disabilities.EQUITY, DIVERSITY, & INCLUSION STATEMENT: The Baby Fold is committed to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion, where each individual feels empowered and where our differences are celebrated.
