This position involves designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum materials, and employing various teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of the students. The Special Education Teacher collaborates with other educators, support staff, and families to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success and growth. QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, required;

Clear renewable Georgia certification at the SRT level, required;

Experience working with students with diverse disabilities, learning needs, and behavioral challenges;

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and community partners;

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically;

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assesses students' academic abilities, strengths, and areas for growth to develop personalized learning goals;

Collaborates with parents/guardians, school staff, and other professionals to create comprehensive IEPs that address students' unique needs and challenges;

Designs and implements instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications to support students in achieving their IEP goals;

Creates or adapts instructional resources, such as visual aids, manipulatives, and interactive materials, to support;

Assists in maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment by enforcing rules and expectations;

Monitors student behavior and intervenes as necessary to address disruptions;

Participates in training sessions, workshops, or professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge;

Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal
