Caseload: Self-Contained Classroom Our esteemed school district is seeking a compassionate and dedicated
Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. This position involves working with students who have a range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. As a Special Education Teacher, you will design and deliver lessons geared towards the individual needs and capabilities of your students and play a critical role in helping them achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific educational needs of each student.
- Use various teaching techniques and tools, including technology, to enhance student learning and outcomes.
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and professionals to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting educational plans as necessary to promote effective learning.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing insight and updates on student progress and adjustments needed.
- Manage classroom behavior using effective, compassionate strategies that promote respect and positive interactions.
- Engage in continuous professional development to ensure best practices in special education.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Valid Michigan teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the specific needs of students with disabilities and familiarity with applicable educational technology and software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students effectively, staff, and families.
- Ability to work flexibly in a team and adapt to the diverse needs of students.
