This position will serve in a School Age Classroom at the Youth Detention Center in Greensburg, PA. Description of Duties:
- Participates in IEP Team meetings.
- Conducts initial, interim and annual Individual Educational Plan Conferences.
- Prepares, implements and revises, as necessary, students' Individual Educational Plans.
- Prepares and follows lesson plans for daily individual and group instruction.
- Assesses students' performances in relation to curricular goals and objectives specified in their Individual Educational Plans.
- Recommends students for related services and coordinates such services with classroom activities.
- Integrates and reinforces students' regular and special education activities.
- Plans for and directs other assisting personnel such as instructional aides and student teachers.
- Organizes classroom in an attractive and functional manner
- Inventories, maintains and requests materials and equipment.
- Maintains and disseminates student progress, attendance and child tracking information.
- Participates as a staff member of the assigned school building(s).
- Participates in applicable due process procedures.
- Pursues professional growth and development.
- Represents the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit in a professional manner, consulting either the building principal or supervisor where procedures are in doubt.
- Develops a reporting system so that parent contact is part of an annual routine.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee.
