Posting DetailsPosition Information Job Title Special Instructor of Biological Sciences - Vertebrate Zoology & Animal Behavior Requisition No. 0000752 Job Description Summary The Department of Biological Sciences at Oakland University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in the area of Vertebrate Zoology & Animal Behavior to be filled by August 15, 2025. The appointment, as a Special Instructor, is a full-time, teaching-track faculty position leading to job security, the equivalent of tenure. Special Instructors are expected to teach three classes per semester in the Fall and Winter semesters and to participate in service and program development activities. The successful candidate is expected to teach lecture and laboratory/field courses related to Vertebrate Zoology and Animal Behavior, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as part of a team of faculty and instructors within the department.Minimum Qualifications The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Zoology or a related field and experience teaching lecture, field, and laboratory courses in Animal Behavior and Vertebrate Zoology. Candidates must also demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion, including the ability to implement evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices. Candidates with demonstrated experience in course and program development, teaching courses at multiple levels (introductory vs. advanced), designing courses in different modalities (e.g., online vs. in person), and developing community engagement or service learning opportunities for students, will be considered favorably.
