A Special Procedures Tech assists the radiologist in the performance of angiographic procedures and performs the duties of a staff radiologic technologist. Reports to the diagnostic radiology supervisor. These may include:

• Performing all staff radiologic technologist duties.
• Assisting the radiologist during special procedure i.e. angiography) with knowledge of the sequence of different steps required, handling of the instruments, (i.e. catheters, guidewires, needles).
• Preparing the patient for special procedures.
• Preparing different contrast media for different procedures.
• Preparing and sets up sterile field and trays for the procedure.
• Setting up injection rates, filming programs and exposure sequences, as directed by the radiologist.
• Taking call on a rotating basis.

EDUCATION:

Current NYS Radiologic Technologist License. ARRT Certification.
