- Monitor patient outcomes and adjust therapy as needed to ensure optimal therapeutic results.
- Provide patient counseling and education on the proper use, potential side effects, and storage of specialty medications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and resolve any drug-related issues.
- Oversee the dispensing of specialty medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage inventory and procurement of specialty medications, including temperature-sensitive and high-cost drugs.
- Assist patients with navigating insurance coverage and prior authorization processes for specialty medications.
- Work with insurance companies and financial assistance programs to ensure patients have access to necessary medications.
- Stay current with advancements in specialty pharmaceuticals, including new drug therapies and emerging treatment guidelines.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's of Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
- Experience in specialty pharmacy.
- State pharmacy license in good standing.
- Proficiency in managing and dispensing specialty medications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Certification in a specialty area (e.g., BCPS, BCOP).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
