The Central Processing Laboratory Specimen Processor performs a variety of lab duties in a high volume, fast paced, production-like environment. This position works independently and as a part of a team, handling multiple tasks simultaneously for timely receipt and routing of laboratory specimens (such as blood, urine, stool, tissue, and body fluid) according to established turnaround times. Performs sample triage, receipt, and tracking activities, to ensure timely routing of specimens to various testing departments. Accurately identifies patients, compares specimen labels and paperwork received, and accurately labels laboratory specimens. Performs various duties associated with obtaining and processing patient specimens, test orders, and results; accurately enters and updates electronic medical records such as patient demographics, billing, laboratory test orders, and specimen information.
