Job Summary: The Specimen Receiving Coordinator - Hematopathology performs specimen receiving and accessioning for laboratory specimens using LIS and HIS systems. Labels specimens and delivers to the appropriate laboratory. Responsible for document control and maintenance of the laboratory procedure manuals and forms. Provides administrative support for the Hematopathology Laboratory. Assists with problem resolution and follow-up with other UH departments and referring physicians regarding specimen submissions. Assists with training of new employees and students. Coordinates activities and delegates work assignments. Identifies problems and works with supervisor with problem resolution. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree (preferably in a relevant medical field) and three years of experience in a specimen receiving role required. Will also consider candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft software required. Preferred Qualifications: Clinical Laboratory experience preferred. Experience with Health and Laboratory Information Systems (HIS and LIS) such as EPIC, Beaker, SunQuest, CoPath.
