Jowonio School, in Syracuse, NY is seeking a part time speech language pathologist to start asap. Salary: 10 month at 100% FTE ($53,481.75) + $3,000 Sign On Bonus ** Certification: Licensed in NY as a speech language pathologist Education: Master's degree in speech language pathology Experience: Experience with young children and children with special needs is strongly preferred. Assess children's skills related to communication, with a functional orientation, as a therapist in the classroom, as a member of the Evaluation Team, or for a Supplemental Evaluation. Develop and implement interventions geared toward communication through direct instruction in one-to-one or group situations in the classroom and in the therapy room; through planning and leading small and large group classroom activities; and through participating in on-going classroom routines that are conducive to structured and natural communication. Plan classroom-based communication activities to be carried out by classroom teachers as language advocates including ideas for use of integrated activities to produce language. Consult and communicate regularly with teachers, other support staff and parents regarding communication needs of children and their progress; model successful interventions that foster communication in the classroom and at home, including the use of augmentative communication approaches and/or assistive technologies as needed. Participate in writing the communication sections of IFSPs and Individual Education Plans, their updates, and progress reports; the communication sections of the portfolio for transitioning students; and make suggestions regarding other areas of the IEP where relevant. Participate in writing evaluation reports. Develop and implement regular record-keeping procedures, document language progress and maintain logs regarding therapy activities and outcomes.
