Job Description:

Types of Patients Served: Patients in the community, and surrounding region, requiring medical imaging services vary from individuals requiring ambulatory, screening procedures to critically ill individuals who require emergency diagnostic and invasive procedures. The Department of Medical Imaging, through its established policies, procedures and QI programs meets patient exam needs as determined by the medical staff. Ages of Patients Served: The Department of Medical Imaging treats patients of all ages for both inpatient and outpatient service areas. Inpatient Population: This department treats all types of patients from all age groups appropriately referred for diagnostic and invasive medical imaging services within our expertise. Outpatient Population: This department treats all types of outpatients from all age groups appropriately referred for diagnostic services within our expertise. No invasive medical imaging is performed in this outpatient center. The Breast Center: This area treats all outpatients who are appropriately referred for Mammography services. Biopsies and Needle Localizations are also performed here at the Breast Center on those patients appropriately referred. The community site located at 1365 Washington Avenue, in Albany is strictly a screening site for Mammography, Breast Ultrasound and DEXA. On a case by case basis emergent inpatients will be considered. Current Services for Patients and Patients' Families: ? Frequent Procedures, Processes, Services : Inpatient procedures include General Radiography, Interventional Radiography (Angiography), Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT and MRI. Outpatient procedures include General Radiography, Interventional Radiography, Ultrasound, CT, MRI PET/CT, Nuclear Medicine and DEXA. The Breast Center performs Mammography, Ultrasound, Cyst Aspirations, Needle Localizations, and Needle Core Biopsies. ? Scope and Complexity of Patient Care Needs: Assessment of patient care needs is an on-going process throughout the department's CQI program. Six to eight registered nurses assist in identifying, assessing and planning for relevant physical, emotional and spiritual needs based on individual patient data and known possible outcomes of the procedures performed.
