Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides excellent service to customers who place a bet in the Sports Book as well as Race wagering operations. Ensure that all customers understand the various type of wagers, displays patience with novice customers, and engages in friendly conversations with all customers. Processes all cash transactions quickly and accurately.

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Complies with Indiana Gaming Commission Regulations, approved internal controls, as well as company policies.

* Greets customers; inputs betting information into computer; prints ticket; accepts money and gives ticket and change to customers.

* Accurately maintains bank.

* Verifies winning tickets.

* Handles and solves any concerns and questions by customers.

* Explains wagering information when needed.

* Maintains and updates Betting Boards or Televisions for customers to view.

* Understands pari-mutuel wagering including reading tickets sold, tote keyboard and basic racing terminology

* Provide customers with a list of scratches for tracks or results for races

* Cash/sell vouchers

* Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.

* Cash/Cancel tickets as necessary

* Performs the duties as assigned of a Sportsbook Writer and Mutuel Teller

* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma required. At least 6 months previous cash handling experience required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Sports enthusiast with an interest in horse racing and sports activities. Mathematically inclined and the ability to pass a math test. Demonstrated ability of good handwriting skills. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Must be able to work any day and any shift. Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team. Must present a well-groomed appearance.

SOCIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with our guests.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

REQUIRED PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (minimum 4-6 hours). Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator. Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment. Must be able to tolerate areas containing second-hand smoke, dust, loud noises and bright lights.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions, when handling guest and employee conflicts. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be able to responds to visual and aural cues.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Gaming Commission and the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
