Sports Assistant must be able to implement Intramural Sports and Club Sports policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness, and safety. They should maintain a positive attitude on-site and should always be striving to improve their officiating skills.Required Qualifications
  • General knowledge of intramural sports
  • General knowledge of club sports
  • Must learn the mechanics of officiating through department training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous officiating experience
  • Knowledge of games, rules, and intramurals policies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Other Information Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Officiate intramural sports
  • Officiate club sports
  • Assist with pre and post-game administration
  • Assist with preparation of game site
  • Unlock esports arena for open play times.
  • Secure esports arena at the end of open play times.
  • Monitor esports arena during open play times to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Assist with Fiber Cup tournament.
  • Assist with recruitment events.
  • Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and sports education
  • Provide a friendly, upbeat and positive environment at all times
  • Understand emergency/evacuation procedures
  • Will serve as backup SAC Attendant on as-needed basis.

Special Instructions to Applicants You must be enrolled at the College on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester); contact hours will not be used to meet the 6 credit hour minimum.High-school students who are dual enrolled are eligible for student employment. You must also meet the credit hour requirement.ORYou must be enrolled or continuing your education with a four-year College partner, on the campus of SMC, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the summer semester.All student employees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for student employment.Physical Requirements Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:1.
