Position Type: Athletics/AquaticsDate Posted: 11/25/2024Location: Northeastern High SchoolJOB SUMMARY: The Aquatics Director is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the natatorium, its adjacent areas, including the locker rooms, deck space, spectator seating, storage areas and filtration rooms. The Aquatics Director is also responsible for the water chemistry and maintenance of the pool. All equipment will be maintained and cataloged by the Aquatics Director. More traditional roles of the Aquatics Director include: pool scheduling, creating and developing a successful community aquatics program with district administration, supervising and directing of the natatorium staff - lifeguards and instructors, budgeting, and conducting regular program evaluations. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensure that the natatorium is a safe environment for users. Administer first aid and respond to emergency situations as necessary. Follow the proper procedures to report all injuries and problems. 2. Maintain all facility certifications and ensure the compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local aquatic laws and regulations. 3. Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections on the condition of the facility and equipment. Make decisions regarding facility and equipment operations. 4. Oversee facility, water sanitation operations, and equipment, practice preventive maintenance, including, but not limited to, the filtration system, air circulation systems, and water temperature. 5. Coordinate and develop aquatic programs and activities to meet the needs and regulations of the school, district, and community. 6. Supervise, hire, mentor, train, and coordinate the work of all pool supervisors, lifeguards, volunteers, and workers in school or community activities. 7. Create and coordinate the process of reservations for the aquatics facility by all parties associated with the community and/or school. 8. Maintain the master calendar/schedule for facility use. 9. Maintain facility records and reports, including staff certifications, pool maintenance, hourly transactions, funds and other related information. 10. Provide input to the high school for annual budget preparation including operational expenses and capital requirements. Continually review the financial standing of the facility. 11. Manage purchasing of pool chemicals, replacement equipment and new equipment, as needed. 12. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor of Arts in Parks, Leisure, and Recreational Facility Management or related field preferred. Experience in the operation of an aquatics center required Pool Operator Certification, American Red Cross CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Certification, WSI Certification preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to reach above and below the waist Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion Bending and twisting of the body required Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 100 lbs.
