Position Description

Responsible for providing efficient constituent service, drafting e-correspondence, outreach, and various other tasks as required by the office.

Interns would have good communication and writing skills.

Must be open to attending virtual events and community meetings.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Prior office experience a plus, i.e., answering phones, using Microsoft Office, general computer skills, etc.

•Interest in social policy and familiarity with the issues facing Brooklyn.

•Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and maintain consistent attention to details.

•Act as the representative for the office including verbal communications with constituents, and serving as a liaison with during events/community meetings, as required.

•Assist with office and community events.

•Meets attendance requirements as established.

•Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•Candidate must possess good computer skills.

•Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

•Excellent written and good public speaking abilities.

•Capable of multitasking in a team-oriented environment.

Reports to: This employee reports to the Office Manager unless otherwise instructed.

Managerial responsibilities: None

Schedule:

Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Additional Job Detail:

•Hours per week: 15-20

•Internship Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, but your school could offer college funding/college credit

  • Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible
  • Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law)
