Job Description:

H.J. Pertzborn Plumbing and Fire Protection, Inc. is seeking a problem solver who provides top notch customer service for our Sprinkler Fitter Inspector opportunity. This opportunity is responsible for performing automatic sprinkler system inspections, and maintenance repairs. Your contributions will ensure that customers have an outstanding experience by:

90% Complete fire protection inspections by:

  • interacting with the customer, contractors, and other trades in a professional manner.
  • Reviewing building plans to determine fire protection system locations.
  • Performing flow tests, fire pump tests, hydrostatic test, main drain tests, dry valve trip test, and hydrant inspections.
  • Performing basic service and maintenance repairs.
  • Performing basic system programming associated with system start-ups.
  • Testing and inspecting fire alarm systems in conjunction with automatic sprinkler systems.
  • Applying all building codes to maintenance.
  • Communicating the installation, repair, and/or maintenance needed to the customer and Schedule Coordinator.
  • Keeping the Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator informed of project status and requirements to ensure the customer receives the service we committed to, in a timely manner.
  • Report material used to ensure that the invoice reflects the service performed, materials used, and time required accurately.
  • Assisting with warranty and material information as requested.

10% Maintain company vehicle inventory and maintenance by:

Restocking company vehicle with inventory (materials, tools, etc.) needed to perform service work.

Communicating with Tool Technician and Coordinator about any company issued tools which are in need of repair or replacement.

Adhering to the regular maintenance schedule (e.g. oil changes, tire rotation, etc.) of the company vehicle.

Communicating any mechanical concerns about the company vehicle to the Lead Mechanic.

Ensuring that the company vehicle is kept orderly – disposing of waste daily and keeping the vehicle clean (exterior and interior.)

To be successful in this opportunity, you will need:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

2+ years of previous sprinkler fitter experience is required. Working knowledge of fire sprinklers, fire pumps, backflow, standpipes, sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices and critical components are required.

  • 1+ years of computer/tablet proficiency and inspection software is required.
  • 1+ years of customer service experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of NFPA codes and regulations is required.
  • Ability to comply with Federal, State, and local building codes requirements is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic mathematical aptitude is required.
  • Ability to climb and work at varying heights is required.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, attention to detail, and follow through is required.
  • Demonstrated trouble shooting and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and make independent judgements is required.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and/or direct supervision is required.
  • Interest and ability to maintain positive working relationships with our internal and external customers, suppliers, vendors, general contractors and/or subcontractors is required.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to wear company provided uniform.

Licenses & Certifications Required:

  • Maintaining a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
  • Current Sprinkler Fitter's License is required.
  • Journeyman License.
  • Backflow certification is required.
