Type of Position Permanent Full-Time Staff/Non-Faculty Staff/Non-Faculty Appointment Type 1.0 Work Schedule/Hours Eight-hour day between the hours of 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Due to the inaccessibility of some educational areas during normal working hours, work schedules may vary.Position is considered MANDATORY and is subject to call back on evenings, weekends, and holidays should emergencies occur. Coordination of Work: This position serves as a crew leader and may perform advanced coordination of work to other team members. Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of campus sprinkler and plumbing piping and system components. Many situations require emergency repair to minimize impact of system outages on the campus community. Set objectives and prioritize activities and tasks, and adjust priorities when appropriate. Uses time effectively and does not let distractions interfere with completion of the job/project. Coordinate sprinkler outages with appropriate departments.Knowledge - Technical: Provide technical knowledge and skill in the maintenance and operation of the campus sprinkler and plumbing system. Work requires exceptional skills, initiative, and judgment in the application of a variety of trades; usually in a confined space situation requiring knowledge and application of OSHA safety procedures. Provides technical assistance to others by troubleshooting steam system issues. Mentors other technicians. Employees may direct other employees in obtaining parts, layout of work, sequencing of safety procedures required for system shutdown and startup, or performing other tasks in areas affected by work in progress. Employees must provide skilled use of sprinkler and plumbing equipment, wet/dry, Pre Action and deluge systems, advanced pipefitting skills, and have a knowledge of sprinkler systems. Troubleshoots sprinkler total system issues and makes economical repairs. Sprinkler and Plumbing experience is utilized daily to repair systems and correct mechanical equipment.
